I’ve just done 3 day shifts (7am – 7pm) and now I’ve got 3 nights (7pm – 7am) and then … I’m on leave for 3 whole weeks – Yippee !!
I left for work early, as I often do, and parked in the car park in Hockley Heath, noting that the gates will be locked at 6:30 – plenty of time.
I followed my usual route, down the Lapworth flight until I reached Kingswood Junction. Approaching the junction, I spied an angler on the other side of the cut removing a sizable fish from his tackle (oh err, missus!). Once the fish was off the hook, the fisherman whipped out his mobile phone, took a photo of said fish before easing the creature back into the murky depths of the Stratford canal.
I left the canal here for a short stroll through Lapworth and Rowington (the boundary is just before the Grand Union Canal bridge). I left the road here for the Grand Union canal which I followed, past sheep filled fields, for a mile to Turner’s Green where I waved it adieu.

A short walk took me to the humorously named, Dicks Lane, which I followed as it meandered it’s way back to the Stratford canal.

On reaching the Stratford canal, I was greeted with an idyllic scene of the spring sun shining on a little white, canal-side cottage with a narrow-boat chugging on down the cut. I just had to take a photo…

Another mile and I was back at Kingswood junction and I continued up and back to the car.
A very pleasant walk in the spring sunshine, clocking up 8 miles to get the week going.
