A week or so ago, I received an email from the Wildwood chain of restaurants offering me a bottle of Prosecco (and a brownie – but I wasn’t too concerned about that) as an early Birthday present.
Probably our closest and most visited is in Stratford-upopn-Avon. Not really needing an excuse to visit Stratford, we decided to drive the thirty odd miles, have a look around and dine at Wildwood.
To avoid most of the traffic, we parked a little outside of the town centre at the railway station from where it is but a five minute walk to the shops.

The drive down was uneventful and after parking and paying we strolled along into town coming to the market.
There is a stall on the market which sells jewellery from which Sue has bought many times. Nearly every time we go to Stratford, Sue will say something along the lines of, “I’m only going to have a look” and invariable ends up making a purchase. Today was no exception.
She also took a shine to a vintage looking watch which was beyond her budget so I ended up buying it as one of Sue’s Christmas presents. She has to forget about it then act all surprised come December twenty fifth.

After a bit of window shopping we turned up outside of Wildwood about forty five minutes ahead of our table booking but luckily they were none too busy and squeezed us in. Once seated, I flashed my email and asked if the bottle of Prosecco would be a full sized bottle (the sceptical me envisaged one of those one-glass bottles) and was reassured that it was the real McCoy. I asked if we could take it unopened as I was driving and they were quite happy to do this.
After a few olives, we settled into the main course of, in my case, the butternut squash risotto and for Sue, the turkey Christmas special.
For dessert, Sue had my free brownie whilst I had a very tasty tiramisu.
Post lunch, we continued window shopping before returning to the car.
Checking on the Geocaching website, we spotted three caches in Wotton Warren through which we would be passing on the way home and decided on a spot of caching.
We parked in Wotton Warren and proceeded to the first of the three, a ‘fine pair’ where we collected the required digits which provided us with co-ordinates for the final location, about three hundred metres away.
After finding the first cache, we crossed the main road and again located some numbers (this time on the war memorial) and set off in search of this one. MY co-ordinates must have been a bit off but by widening the reach we soon had the cache in hand.
Returning, almost to our stating position, the final cache was quickly found overlooking the fine St. Peter’s church.

With our total geocaching finds now on 6,596, we headed for home. A very pleasant afternoon.
