Since my last blog post, over a month ago, I can’t say that I’ve done anything earth shattering. This is a bit of a poor excuse for not adding more entry as I have been known to write about even the most mundane of subjects.

I have still been playing busses (and trains) roughly once a week but not always on a Friday as Sue now has a regular girls dinner with an old work colleague.

My challenge to find (at least) one cache a day is going well, as most of my bus trips involve a spot of caching (traditional and Adventure Labs) which as of today give Team Balders a fifty four cache credit. In theory, I could not cache for the next seven and a bit weeks and still retain my one a day tally.

Another birthday has been and gone. As to be expected, the evening was spent in The Griffin, in the company of my good lady and daughter number one. I even got a cuddle and free pint from one of the barmaids.

The following day, we visited Stratford’s Christmas Market rounded off with a visit to Wildwood for lunch. Luckily, I had a voucher for a free bottle of Prosecco and a brownie (the same as last year). As I was driving, I brought the bubbly away with me to consume later. Sue ate the brownie.

A few days later, I received another voucher entitling me to free pizza – or more accurately SIX free pizzas.

We must be spending too much time (and money) at this establishment to keep getting these offers. But the food is so good.

The model railway is progressing very slowly as the novelty of the 3D printer hasn’t yet worn off.

The cycling (on Zwift) and rowing is ticking over but I have managed a couple of walk over the past couple of days with which I’m quite proud. No great mileages (or kilometerages ?) but they have been at a brisk(ish) pace and the legs haven’t played up too much afterwards. I am hoping to carry on with regular walks and perhaps get some of my old pace / stamina back. I may have entered a walking event next year but I’m not tempting fate be talking about it yet.

I can divulge that I have signed up for the Country Walking 1000 mile challenge. I have done this a few times before but it does mean that I’ve got to walk one thousand miles (1,600km) during 2026. That boils down to roughly three miles (5k) a day.
