A misty morning awaiting us, as I opened the front door and was pulled outside by two eager doggies.

I had to stop walking the dogs a while back when my knee started playing me up. When I used to walk the dogs, I had to take them together as they both suffer with separation anxiety and it I took just the one, the other would cry.

The dogs weigh over 30kg each and when they both decide to take of, I have great difficulty holding them back. With a dodgy arthritic knee which could give way, I have not felt safe taking them out – which is a shame for them.

However, recently, with the aid of painkillers and anti-inflammatories, my knee has felt a lot stronger and after a couple of longish walks, this week, I decided to chance a dog walk this morning.

So there we were, with dogs attached to the strap on my dog walking belt, about to embark on a little excursion.

I had a Christmas card to drop off to a friend’s house in nearby Water Orton so made that the destination.

Not have been out with me for a while the dogs did pull but the knee held up. The puppies (now aged six and five) did have a bit of a free run once into the countryside which went well until Misty, and then Gabby) discovered a ditch filled with rather mucky looking water.

After their impromptu paddle, we resumed our stroll with the dogs going back on their leads as we entered Water Orton.

The card was dropped off and the walk resumed.

Total distance was 7.03 km and so far (an hour later) the knee is no more painful than usual.

I, and the dogs, are happy with that.
