I did mention entering next April’s “A Coventry Way” to Sue claiming that it would be good to have something to aim for.

Sue, no doubt concerned about me overdoing it, was not so keen saying that forty miles is a bit far even though it’s almost half a year away.

As a compromise, I have signed up for the Charnwood Marathon a couple of weeks earlier (22 March) but a little less mileage-wise. I did Charnwood back in 2019 and really enjoyed the experience.

I have re-posted my event report HERE.

Being a shorter distance means that the training doesn’t need to be as intensive and I have drawn up a training plan (I do like a plan).

The plan that I will be following, which is based on a running marathon, had a half marathon about a couple of months before the main event. Looking around I found this …

From race HQ in Ashbourne coaches will transport participants to Parsley Hay from where it is a gradual downhill back to Ashbourne. Nice and easy (hopefully).
