Exceedingly Good

After the exertions of the previous day we, or more precisely, Sue, had a lie in.

Just before noon, we set off to the not too distant Bateman’s, once the home of, author, Rudyard Kipling ( apparently, this wasn’t the guy who makes exceedingly good cakes!).

Rudyard had been around a bit being born in India, where he started writing, before moving to the US and finally to the UK.

After living on the south coast and to avoid the publicity which pursued him once he was famous, he moved to this building quietly tucked away in the Sussex countryside.
The staff here were very informative and brought the life of Mr. Kipling to life.
Tucked away in what was the kitchen (and NOT where the cakes were made) was an exhibition of tapestry by the British Tapestry Group.
The exhibitor told us a lot about the art of tapestry and about the group. Very interesting.

We had a bite to eat at the, as usual, slow National Trust eatery before heading back.
We were going to go on to Pevensey for a couple of AdLab adventures but partly due to a technology related navigation error we returned to the Corn Bin where Sue decided that it was time for a Sunday afternoon snooze.
I left her asleep and I adjourned to the upstairs to catch up on writing this blog.A little while later, Sue awoke but was suffering with a rather upset stomach and her ankle was giving her some jip so we took the rest of the day nice and easy.
