Trolling trough Facebook late last week, I came across an ad for the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Charity who are organising walks around Birmingham city centre giving people the opportunity to raise money, through sponsorship, for the charity. The distances are 1k, 5k and 10k with the option to do all three (16k).
Thirteen years ago, I did another charity walk, along the River Thames.
This was considerable longer at one hundred kilometres (sixty two miles) and as I was a younger and a lot fitter (not to mention unaffected with Arthritis) was fairly easily achieved.
The MS walk is a lot shorter but these days no less daunting. Usually, any walk is painful nowadays but that is what makes a challenge, sell, challenging.
Therefore, I have signed up to do the Triple Challenge – i.e. 16k or just under ten miles.
I am happy to be able to use this opportunity to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Charity as one of my daughters suffers from this debilitating disease.

The walk takes place on Saturday 13th June – a little over two months away.
I have set up a Just Giving page and set the target at a very achievable £150 (which is what the organisers suggest). Obviously, the more raised, the better.
To ensure that I complete the challenge, I will obviously, be doing some training – nothing too drastic but as I’m also trying to walk one thousand miles this year, I shall endeavour to get some consistent mileage in.
