A Visit to the Doctor

For the past couple of weeks, I have been suffering with what we (Sue and I) diagnosed as boils in my left armpit. Looks painful and is quite uncomfortable.

The online sources suggested keeping the area clean and applying hot compresses and if it doesn’t clear up after two weeks, see a doctor who will probably prescribe anti-biotic.

Today, that fortnight period had m ore than elapsed so at eight thirty I was on the phone, getting through and being placed forth in the queue.

Ten minutes later, I was connected with the receptionist who found me an appointment for ten past ten.

I arrived a few minutes early and as I wasn’t called until nearly twenty past had time to read a few more pages of Bill Bryson’s Shakespeare.

The doctor took a look and declared that I had infected hair follicles and prescribed anti-biotics. Different diagnosis, same treatment.

So for the next week, I’m to take four of these babies every day – either an hour before food or two hours afterwards. Awkward !

On a brighter note, I cooked us a roast dinner with a Quorn roast, roast spuds, yorkshires, sprouts and, even if I say so myself, some excellent mushroom gravy.
