I did have a plan in place to walk to Tamworth, do the parkrun and then walk back.

However, best laid plans and al that, we decided on a trip to Stratford so I hastily implemented a plan B.

I got the dogs ready and we headed up towards Bacons End with eh intention of carry on to Chelmsely wood.

About a mile into our walk, we encountered some idiot who had parked their car on the cycle path to save him having to walk that extra few feet. We managed to walk around it, with, perhaps a foot and/or paw on his front lawn !

After a chat with someone we knew we crossed under the Birmingham Road and headed downhill towards The Centurion pub. It was a little early (and it’s not the nicest of establishments) so we continued on past and into Meriden Park after crossing Kingshurst Brook.

To the accompaniment of a light drizzle, we continued alongside the brook turning around at three miles.

Back at Chelmsley wood, in sight of Asda, we crossed over and continued along the opposite bank until we reached the Cole which we followed to Kingshurst.

The Chester Road was followed almost as far as Morrisons opposite what used to be the Timberley pub.

Another mile and we were back home having clocked up a total of around six miles.

After breakfast (for all of us) it was a freshen up (just me), Sue and I high-tailed it to Stratford for the afternoon.

With the change of plan, and helped by extra mileag earlier in the week, I had just over ten mile left to do on Sunday. Again, we had something already on teh books for the p.m. so what ever I decided, I’d have to get up early.
