My other half, concerned for my welfare, has recently commented that my breathing is a bit ‘wheezy’. I have also noticed, more of a feeling really, but I seem to bit a little short of breath sometimes.

I finally, bit the bullet and made an appointment to see the doctor.

He asked a few questions and had a listen to my chest which he stated was clear.

He then checked my blood pressure – and again – and again.

“It’s rather high!” he exclaimed. I can’t recall the figures but he wasn’t wrong.

He arranged for me to have some blood samples taken and prescribed some diuretics to lower my blood volume and hence lower my B.P.

I assumed that the Doc had sent my prescription to the local pharmacist (mainly because that’s what he said) so I made my way to the chemist only to be told that they hadn’t received anything.

It was during this walk from the surgery to the chemist and then back home that I became aware of a pain in my right knee.

The pain gradually worsened and even with icing, paracetamol and Ibufrofen I was unable to get comfortable enough to sleep. Lack of decent sleep is becoming a major problem.

After a week or so, the knee is still hurting and the pain appears to get worse after walking, which is not good as I have the RRR fifty miler coming up in about ten days time.

Luckily, from a fitness point of view, cycling doesn’t seem to aggravate the problem so I’m still able to play on Zwift and cycle to work.
