As usual, the dogs woke me at around five. I let them out into the garden to perform their ablutions before nipping back to bed for an hour (me, not the dogs).
I got up proper just before six and donning my headset caught the end of Tweet of the Day (macaws).
Gabby was the first dog to be taken out for a walk, followed about half an hour later by Misty for a total of 2.6 miles.
After breakfasting, I did a little working from home (WFH) stuff before venturing out, again, this time to the dentist.
The dentist is in Water Orion, about a mile and a bit away. My route amounted to 1.95 miles.
I was kept waiting for a while but was out by ten after a brief check up. My next appointment is on 28th April at eight a.m.
I phoned a long-time friend in the village and we wiled away a half hour or so, over coffee, before resuming my walk home (another 1.6 miles).
Back home, a little more work related stuff before going with Sue to The Griffin for dinner. Technically, still WFM but I am owed a few hours due to having to cover a night shift over new year.
Next Year
… or, technically, THIS year.
At this time of the year, most years, I have a plan for the next few months detailing all my walking ( and cycling ) events and the necessary training leading up to those.
This year, I have nothing planned.
I have had a fair bit of right knee pain (since my foolhardy 800m run back in September). From that date, I have had to cut right back on my walking.
My nascent cycling activities have also been severely curtailed. I did push my self a little in December in order to complete my virtual walk along Route 66 for which I received this chunky medal and a tee shirt.
As I said, I have nothing on the books apart from an early entry into this year’s ‘A Coventry Way’. This forty mile walk around, you guessed it, Coventry takes place in April every year and just in case I was up for it, I got my entry in early as this is always over subscribed. Whether I’ll can be math fit for then remains to be seen but I am planning on getting back into the walking and cycling.
Back on Two Wheels
After lunch at my favourite watering hole, I had to return home for a mid-afternoon
snooze which was cut short (twice) by work calls.
After a break of nearly six weeks (due to building a kitchen and Christmas) I managed
to get on the bike for a half hour of Zwifting.
Nice and easy covering a virtual 11.7 miles.
The effects of Christmas are showing as my weight has shot back up to 89kg.
