As 2023 recedes into history, a bright new year dawns.
Welcome to 2024.
Will the next twelve months be any different to the last dozen ?
Hopefully but no in any big way.
Walking
I MUST my walking mojo back. I was to do a twenty four miler in the Peak District in February but, as is so often the case, the training hadn’t been done so I’ve let that go (and got a partial refund).
The next biggie is A Coventry Way in April (LINK). Forty miles around the city of Coventry. I have done this a few times and I am determined to do this again in 2024.
I have a bit of a training plan ready but need to get back into the long weekend walks (and the occasional mid-week ones). So far this year (and it is only the third of Jan.) I have managed to get out with the doggies before work with a sixty six percent success rate (it was pissing it down yesterday!)
I need to walk to or from work a bit more, either getting the bus one way or using the car to get to work, walk home then bus the following morning.
I am one hundred and eighty three miles into my North Coast virtual walk with three hundred and thirty two miles left to go (to save you working it out it five hundred and sixteen in total). I started on the twenty ninth of October so should manage that in the year allowed.
I did manage a parkrun just before Christmas volunteering as tail walker and clocking my slowest ever 5k !
Cycling
Very little – oh alright then, NO CYCLING has happened for ages. I am still to replace my broken brake lever from my accident so that I can get out IRL (as the kids say – In Real Life).
I should dust off the trainer and get back on that Zwift – no I really should.
Swimming
I had great hopes for the swimming but that has dropped by the wayside. I was having some problems with the breathing so maybe once I’m a bit fitter (from the walking) perhaps I’ll restart.
I bought a wetsuit last year for some wild swimming action so there’s a reason to get fit. I can always use it when we venture north of the border in May.
