On arriving home from work on Tuesday, I dragged the dogs out for a short walk before going out on my own to bring the daily total up to four and a bit miles, meeting Sue from work.

Wednesday morning, it was chucking it down with rain so I drove into work with the intention of walking home afterwards.

Luckily, come home time, the rain had stopped. I had only six miles on on the plan so decided on a not too inspiring walk through Alum Rock.

I passed a school that was besieged by cars. They were parked on the pavement, parked alongside, on the road, and then there were other vehicles trying to get past. It was proper gridlocked. When the horn blowing started, I was glad that I wasn’t driving !

After three miles, I reached the Cole Valley walk and cycle way. I have walked along this section after rain before and had to wade through deep water.

Today wasn’t too bad with the water only a few inches deep. My Gortex shoes kept out most of the wet stuff but a little did come over the tops.

After another couple of miles, I left this green corridor to cut through Castle Bromwich and to home clocking up a total of 6.87 miles.

After a shower and a pizza (not together) we took a ride out to The Griffin where we met a couple of guys from my old running club. They usually cycle up on a Wednesday and we often have a chat. One of the guys has got a place in April’s A Coventry Way so we compared notes on training and walking in general.
