Since ordering broadband from BT following Virgin’s price hike, I have been somewhat concerned that I may not be able to run the BT hub in modem mode.

But, in preparation, I have installed a Cat6 LAN cable from where I want the BT cable to enter the house to the IT cupboard.

However, in the Corn Bin, where we are staying on holiday, the broadband is supplied by BT via the same hub that we will be getting.
I have discovered two things …
1) The broadband input is not a RJ45 connector (which are on the ends of the newly installed Cat6) but the smaller RJ11. This leaves two options …
    a) Fit RJ24 – RJ11 adapters at each end of the Cat6 or
    b) Position the hub in the bedroom (where the broadband cable enters the house) and plug the Cat6 into it and the other end into my existing Ubiquiti router.
2) As the Admin password is available, I logged into the router and using a hack off the internet came to a menu where the hub can be put into bridging mode (modem mode).
