After today, I have only four weeks and one day of work left.

On the twenty seventh, I’m away to York behind vintage diesel and steam locomotives and the following day, my birthday, is technically my last working day – also my last day of annual leave.

From then on, I’m officially a pensioner.

I am asked what I intend to do with myself. I have a few ideas …

  • Walking – hopefully the knee will improve and allow me to walk that bit further
  • Geocaching – I can boost Team Balders’ totals
  • Travel in general but travel by public transport specifically as I shall have received my bus pass. As well as travel by omnibus, I can also use trains and trams within the West Midlands anywhere within the blue zone.

I cannot travel free before 09:30 but after that, the world is my oyster (not card).

  • Spend more time with the family

Am I looking forward to my retirement – you bet !
