On November 7th 2019, I collected Misty from the Birmingham Dogs’ Home and brought her home to meet our other dog, Gabby.
Actually, instead of coming straight home and to avoid any territorial issues, Sue walked Gabby to the local park and that’s where I took our new addition.
There was an enclosed area in which they could and did run around, getting to know each other.
They had met and had a run around together twice before at the dogs’ home and seemed to get on great together which convinced the staff there to allow Misty to come home with us.
At the home, Misty had been classed as hyperactive and she certainly was that.
The two dogs hit it off and have become inseparable – they’re like sisters.

We have had Misty for five years now (and Gabby a few months longer) and have adapted to a home with dogs.
Downsides include the constant need to clean away dog hairs and the stifling, somewhat, of our ability to spontaneously have an evening away. Even a long day away requires me to sweet-talk a daughter to come in and check on the pooches. Luckily, she loves them as much as we do.
Upsides – obviously having two gorgeous, loving fur-babies who are always keen to see us and still follow us around.
I would like them to come out with us more and, perhaps, in my retirement I shall have more time to socialise them and get them comfortable out in the public and not to mob anyone (human or canine) they meet, assuming that they want too play. If I can get them to behave more, there’s no reason why we can’t all go out together which will increase the time we can spend away.
