After a pretty poor week where I only managed to/ could be bothered to walk five miles instead of the planned twenty three, I’ve started this week with a few short walks but they all add up.
I managed to take the puppies out yesterday before work. AFter work I had to drop the car off for it’s annual service and MOT from where I walked two and a bit miles, mainly along the Birmingham Fazeley canal, to catch a bus from Bromford.

I was planning on meeting Sue from work so, ideally should catch the X12 service which stops outside the pet shop. However, an X13 came along first which follows the same route but heads off towards Water Orton before the shop, leaving a half mile walk.
So after alighting from the X13, that short walk boosted the daily mileage up to 4.26.
That figure of 4.26 may look a bit over precise but in the past when I have participated in virtual walks this level of detail is reported to the app via Strava and it’s just stuck.
As I was approaching the shop, my phone rang. Glancing down, I noticed that it was Dave from the garage.
“That key you left for us?” he started, “is it for the car?”
I whipped out my small key bunch realising that I had given them the key for Sue’s car instead of the vehicle that they had. Knob!
Luckily Dave lives in Shard End so he said that he’d pop in on his way home and swap keys. Crisis averted.
This morning, not having the car, I had to catch the bus to work getting off at Saltley and walking the final mile and a bit. Not the most scenic but I had the benefit of street lights to show me the way.
Sometime this afternoon, I shall walk to pick up the car clocking up somewhere between three and three and a half miles depending on the route. The shorter route is along the streets whereas the longer is mostly along the canal network. I’ll see how I feel come this afternoon.
