Within in past few days, we have had TWO family birthdays.
Kaitlyn
With her twenty-first last Friday, my eldest granddaughter celebrated with a party on the following evening.
The do was held at The Cuttle Bridge Inn (formerly The Kingsley) between Minworth and Curdworth.
Kaitlyn had asked me to take some photos so I dusted off the old Nikon D300, charged the batteries and dug out some memory cards.
The old ‘proper’ camera is a few years old now (released in 2009) and is not as good as it could be in low light conditions but it does have a decent built-in flash. In most situations, my iPhone 15 Pro Max performs better and it’s always to hand.
However, with my stabilised zoom lens, I was hoping to grab some candid shots.
We got there in plenty of time enabling me to grab some shots as people arrived and settle in for the evening.
Over the next three hours I snapped away culminating in the obligatory group shot just after a rendition of HappyBirthday.

Kassie

It was not Kassie’s twenty-first but on Monday, we had a small celebratory meal at Hickory’s Smokehouse.
Although the menu is rather meat orientated, I did still have a choice and plumbed for the Sea Bass on a bed of Jambalaya.
Never having had this American staple before, we had to Google it before I decided to take a chance. It was a good choice and something I’d have again.
The meal was enjoyed by all especially by my grandson who spotted his mate at an adjacent table, It was George’s birthday as well.
After ordering pudding (frozen custard or Fro-Co as they call it) our waitress, knowing it was Kassie’s birthday) brought a cream topped doughnut (or should that be donut?) with a spectacular sparkler.
To save any further embarrassment, we refrained from singing Happy Birthday.
