Being at the Harry Potter thing, yesterday, left little time for a walk so the ramainder of the week’s mileage would need to be done today.

I had a lie-in until around half seven before arising and getting the dogs ready for walkies.

We left the house at around eight, planning on doing some variation of the Coleshill Loop.

We were rewarded with a bit of a sunrise (although I don’t suppose the canines appreciated it as much as I did) as we headed out along the Auckland Drive cycle/walkway towards Bacon’s End.

Around a mile and a half in, we came to the first of many Road Closed signs on the B4114, Birmingham Road. This is due to the Bloody HS2 and will be closed for around a month.

Luckily, the footpath was still open so we were able to slip through the roadworks getting to teh other end of the closure where the road to Coleshill Manor branches off.

There were, as expected, further Road Closed signs here as well as where the B4114 leaves the main road.

However, during the five minutes it took us to walk to the main road, no fewer that four cars sped up the closed road only to pass going in the other direction a minute later.

We followed the A446 for a little way before going through a kissing gate into the fields where I let them run free for a bit.

At the end of the field, the doggies found the River and jumped in (as they do). Misty is a bit more adventurous running up and down the river whilst Gabby just paddled.

Out of the water and having shaken the excess water off (mostly onto my legs) we followed the river path back to the main road before taking the road through Gilson and Water Orton.
Whilst walking along Back Lane in Water Orton, I saw some runner coming the other way. I knew one of them so we exchanged hellos are we passed.
A little further along, I recognised the form of another couple or runners and noticed that they were walking as opposed to running.
Greeting Eric and Jeanette, I was informed that he had injured his shoulder so was taking it easy.

We continued up Water Orton Road almost as far as The Farthings pub before heading for home.

Total mileage 8.18 exceeding the planned weekly total of thirty six miles by another half a mile.

It’s only the second week of 2024 but I have managed to exceed my planned mileage both weeks. Can my two week streak be considered consistence ?
