The doggies got another mile and a bit each this morning before work.

At work, I continued the cottage search and found something near Porthmadog. My find is a little stone cottage on the outskirts of the scarily spelt Penrhyndeudraeth (pen-rin-dead-reth).

The building is right next to the Ffestiniog railway and about twenty metres form Penrhyn station.

Being in the village we will be within walking distance of shops, takeaways and pubs. Further afield we have Portmerrion, Porthmadog, Harlech and Snowdonia.

I have booked the cottage for a week in April, around Sue’ birthday and am awaiting confirmation. I have booked the dogs in at the boarding kennels.

After work, I rushed home to let the dogs out before preparing for a walk to the usual watering hole.

From home, I followed the usual route through Water Overton and on past Coleshill Parkway.

The path along the river is currently closed due to a new bridge being built so I skirted around this to follow the track around the back of Hams Hall. I crossed over the rivers Tame and Cole before traversing a squishy field to Whitacre Heath.

Half a mile or so of solid pavement led to Hoggrills End Lane (I haven’t a clue as to what a Hoggrill is) before going off-road through Colin Teal’s Wood.

The railway line was followed  with Shustoke Reservoir to my right before emerging in to a soggy field for the final leg to The Griffin.

I entered the pub, claimed a table by depositing my head torch, headphones and gloves before going to the bar for the first pint. I had brought a clean (and dry) tee shirt with me but as I was making my way to the gents’ to change, Sue arrived.

Leaving Sue to order her drink (and nibbles) I changed out of my very hi-vis top into a more subdued one before returning to the table.

We discussed the forthcoming break in North Wales with Sue telling me that she’d requested an extra day’s leave so we can have a full week away.

Tea was from the chippy on the way home.
