After a number of weeks of fairly constant training I have fallen of the wagon of late.
The trouble id that the longer that you leave not getting out, the harder it becomes to re-start.
My ‘A Coventry Way’ forty miler is only four weeks away and this coming week is planned as my last long week before starting my taper. My long walk for this weekend is twenty eight miles (around eight hours).
I have a route in mind which will involve getting out to Stourbridge town early Saturday morning. I can get a bus into Birmingham to catch the first train at 06:01 as far as Stourbridge Junction then I can take the shortest branch line in the country – 0.8 miles to Stourbridge Town, which I last visited on a walk back in November 2016 (LINK).
From the station, I can access the Stourbridge Canal for a mile before joining the Dudley Canal No. 1.
Another highlight of this walk is the mile and a bit long Netherton Tunnel.
Back on the Birmingham Navigation, it’ll be a familiar walk into Birmingham then onto the Birmingham & Fazeley with the last three miles on road / path to get me home.
I really need to do this and must try my hardest to get back into the swing and get my mojo back.
I also have twelve miles pencilled in for Wednesday and I’m hoping that I can talk my good lady into picking me up from The Griffin if I walk there from work.
