It was the case when I walked a lot, Wednesday would often mean a walk to The Griffin ranging anything from six to eighteen miles.
To try and regain my walking mojo, I decided to walk part way this evening.
I had a number of options for a walk of around three miles.
- Get bus / train to Coleshill and walk from there. The main road would be busy and noisy or across the fields might by very wet underfoot.
- Walk to Coleshill and ask Sue to pick me up from there. Three miles would take me to Coleshill Parkway but this would be a bit out of the way for a pick up.
I set off a little before half five hoping to arrive at the supermarket by half six.
The walk went fine as I passed the HS2 works in Water Orton and Gilson before climbing the hill from which ColesHILL is named. Just as I reached the crossing to Morrrisons, I saw Sue’s car drive past and turn into the car park – what excellent timing!
I met up with my other half, changed tops (not with Sue but with a clean one in the motor) before nipping into the store for a can of drink and some (unhealthy) doughnuts.
While I was busy carbo re-loading (am I kidding my self?) Sue drove the three miles to the boozer.
A couple of pints later we headed home.
My knee was a little painful but during the walk, it stayed at the same level of discomfort. Not a super fast (or even fast) walk averaging around 18:00 pace. And, by the way, I covered FOUR miles in just over an hour. I am happy with that.
