I have been, as they say, under the doctor for some time with a daily regime of pills for cholesterol and blood pressure.

To ensure that I am on the correct drugs, my state of health is periodically checked. This was done a few weeks ago involving a consultation and blood tests.

Most of my vitals were okay but there is still some concern over my cholesterol and BP. I have been asked by the doctor to check my blood pressure twice a day for the next week and then to make an appointment to discuss sometime next week.

So far, three days in, my BP is indeed high (137/88 this morning). To help bring this down and also to reduce my cholesterol, I need to watch what I eat.

To be honest, I do have a sweet tooth so getting rid of, or at least cutting down on, sugar would be a good start. So no more, tempting, bags of sweets in the car or chocolate bars on the way to work. I need to eat more fruit and veg and, as well as the sugar, cut down on fatty foods.

The doctor also suggested that I take more exercise. I did explain about the problems I’ve been having with my knee which has prevented me from doing anything like the amount of walking that I did before I, stupidly, tried running back in April. Hopefully, with my knee getting stronger, I should be able to get more walking into my life.
