Following on from my recent MRI scan, I went to the clinic to see the consultant, last week.
I told hime that I did NOT want to go ahead with the knee replacement because of the recovery. This was understandable, he said but went on to say that the only permanent way to fix the discomfort that I feel when trying to get to sleep would be the op.
At my previous appointment, we did broach the subject of a cortisone injection so I asked if I could get one. He, reluctantly, agreed and made a referral to the physio. Hopefully, I’ll get an appointment in the next week or so.
With my charity walk only a week away, I took an opportunity, yesterday, to get a bit of a walk in.
It was ‘only’ seven miles but I didn’t hang around (average pace 15:34). I felt the effects afterwards, especially in my left knee.
I had a lot of trouble getting off to sleep even with Naproxen, paracetamol, Voltarol and an ice pack.
This morning, once moving, the pain has eased and I have taped the knee which also helps.
After over one hundred and fifty kilometres on the bike as well as this walk, last week, today will definitely be a rest day.
A gentle spin tomorrow; a short walk Wednesday and another short ride on Thursday should leave me refreshed come the walk on Saturday.
