I had to pop into the doctors’ earlier in the week for a periodic blood pressure check and bloods.
BP was alright and my blood results are fine apart from the fact that I may be pre-diabetic. Instantly, the other half bans me from all the nice things in life like alcohol, sweets and fry-ups. Other things that can help (and are not so dramatic) include loosing some weight and doing more exercise.
In fact loosing weight and more exercise go together but my arthritic knees and limiting the amount of exercise that I can do, although I have increased the number of activities lately. The extra load does not seem to affect the knees too much until bedtime when I find it almost impossible to get any extended sleep as I can’t get comfortable. Whichever way I lie, my left knee gives me pain.
I am on a regime of anti-inflamatories, pain killers and ice packs on my knee – the latter is the only one that seems to offer any relief.
Unfortunately, the ice packs only lasts a couple of hours or so, so I have order another couple from Amazon today.

On a previous visit to the doctor (LINK), I was referred to the ‘knee clinic’ so I’ve been there today.
After a bit of a chat and a catch up (I was last there in 2019 (LINK)) I was sent off for an X-Ray. After reviewing the picture, the doctor suggested a knee replacement. I asked about time scales and was told around four months time – somewhere around September.
I asked if a Cortisone injection would help and was told it would only be temporary but more importantly, he wouldn’t be able to do anything else with the knee for around six months.
I returned home and gave Sue what I thought was the good news – she was not impressed. I’m not sure why she doesn’t want me to have the surgery and I didn’t feel like pushing the subject today.
