I should have written before now but, and it’s a poor excuse, but life has gotten in the way.

We’ve been back from our hols. for over a week now and have fallen back into the old routine of work (only for another seven weeks).

After my first day back I had to go back into work on the evening to sort out a little problem. I finally got back to bed at around two in the morning.

The dogs don’t understand about catching up on sleep and had me up at around the usual time.
I got ready to return to work but was greeted by a flat tyre as I was ready to set off.
Staying calm, I filled the flat tyre with Slime then inflated it. To distribute the solution around the tyre, I drove up and down the road then when stationary noticed the cause of the puncture – an embedded inch long screw.
After fetching a screw drive, the offending fastening was removed. A gentle hiss told me that the hole was not sealed but I chanced driving to work, hoping that the solution would plug the gap. It seems to have done the trick.
A week later, the tyre is still holding it’s pressure and I’ve replaced the bottle of Slime ready for next time.
A day later, I made an appointment to see the doctor to review my medications (I’d run out of some at the end of the holiday and couldn’t order any more). He told me that I’d need a blood test before they could continue with the repeat prescriptions so that was book and done an hour later.

Whilst I had his attention, I got he doc to look at an itchy patch on my back.

After a while, he diagnosed the blob as ringworm which hasn’t actually got anything to do with worms – it’s a fungal infection akin to athlete’s foot.
A few tubes of anti-fungal cream were prescribed and a week later slow progress is being made.

In the afternoon, a man working for BT arrived to fit the new broadband. Luckily, I was at home so could guide him as to where I wanted it and he was very helpful. Whilst in the house he noticed and was well impressed by the home automation.
TECH ALERT – I was hoping to use the hub as a modem and use my existing network as is. Unfortunately, the latest hubs no longer have the facility to switch it into bride mode so I’ve had to use the hub as my router. There were a few WIFi problems cured by removing two of my three APs and relying on the hub’s WiFi to cover most of the house.
Home Assistant did not like the new setup and in the end, I’ve started again with a fresh install.
I have spent a fair old chunk of time this past week still configuring (or more accurately faffing) with Home Assistant.
We had dinner at our local Harvester one evening being greeted with a new menu. Much like the old one but one of my favourites, Chilli Non-Carne, has gone and a. Lot of the meal now contain chilli.
Other meals out this past week include Wild Wood in Stratford and The Lord Nelson in Ansley. Both meals were excellent.

While in Stratford on Saturday, we managed to find a cache and an AdLab location that were inaccessible on our last visit.
