During my lunch break, on Friday, I took a two mile virtual walk on the treadmill.
I synced the treadmill with Zwift and airplayed that to an Apple TV hooked up to a monitor.
The airplay was a bit laggy and stopped working a couple pole of times.
Nothing too fast, or even remotely fast, but a couple of miles bringing the weekly total up to eleven miles.
Saturday afternoon, I thought that I’d chance a walk to The Griffin. A bit further than anything lately but the knee wasn’t feeling too bad.
I headed for Water Orton and happened to bump into Ed the drums, who used to teach James. We had a quick catch-up before parting ways.
From Water Orton, I continued to the usually A446 which was, due to HS2 works, closed to traffic.
This was most unusual as this is a busy road and to cross it can be interesting as there is no dedicated pedestrian crossing.
Today I was able to take my time, even stopping in the middle of the road to take a photo.
Carrying on from here, I made my way to Coleshill Parkway and then along the river towards Whitacre Heath.
On the section alongside the River Tame, I cross a small bridge, more of a boardwalk I suppose. This was the site, where a few years back, I slipped and fell landing on my right knee. Since that date, I have had trouble with said knee. I did notice that, since my last visit, someone has added anti-slip tape.
If only they had done that back in 2017 !
* Checking back, I see that I slipped on November 2 2017.
Moving on, I crossed a, not as muddy as I was expecting, field popping out at Whitacre Heath where I hung a left to pass through the village.
On the outskirts of the village, I crossed a railway line and took a path, through Colin Teals Wood, to another railway near the site of one of my geocaches. I took a few minutes excursion to check the hide what’s was all well and good.
I continued alongside the railway before walking around a couple of damp fields then up the final accent to the pub. This last stretch was along a well marked path through a field of sweet corn.
In the car park, I stopped my watch having clocked up 7.15 miles in a few minutes over two hours.
My knee sort of gave way, not enough for me to fall, a couple of times but as the walk progressed the walking seemed to get easier and I was feeling somewhat like I used to when out on my feet.
Sue met me at the pub but didn’t share my elation as she was still upset with me for something or other (if you need to ask…)
We stopped off at Morrisons for some odds and ends before returning home.
Overnight, my legs kept waking me every hour or so but it wasn’t the usual pain, more of a tired muscles than the arthritis. Feeling good.
