After a restless night with my ‘tired’ legs, I was going to take the doggies out but as it was hommering down, I postponed it to the evening.
Wanting to get out and about, I hatched a plan to nip into Dobbies garden centre out near Hinckley then more on to the nearby Battlefield Line for a train ride.
It was still raining as we drove out to the garden centre. First job, as Sue hadn’t fancied breakfast at home, was to get a bite to eat.
After some humming and ahhing I went for the vegan sausage Sunday roast with Sue picking the pork option.
We sat and ate listening to the rain crashing down on the roof and watching the increasingly frequent drips.
After brunch, we had a quick look a round, not after anything in particular before braving the rain to get back to where we had parked.
A fifteen minute drive brought us to the Battlefiled Line’s main station at Shackerstone and a nearly empty car park.
After getting our tickets and drinks to go, we boarded an almost deserted DMU sitting at the front, behind the driver.
We enjoyed the five mile ride to Shenton via Market Bosworth before the return trip.
Talking to the conductor, we were told that to break even with the DMU, they needed just ten passengers for the day which they had managed.
Back at Shackerstone we took a short walk to grab a cache but came away empty handed.
To get our moneys worth we took another return trip before heading for home via a Really Sidetracked cache just outside of the station entrance and The Griffin for a couple of jars.
Back home I helped Sue complete here LEGO model of Simba the Lion King.
I was in bed early but again had trouble sleeping – I just couldn’t get comfortable. As was the case the previous night, I think it was more a case of tired, achy legs as opposed to the arthritis. If this is the case, hopefully this should ease off.
